The 3rd annual Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) Conference will be held in Palmerston North, New Zealand. We are building on the highly successful meetings held in 2009 and 2010. The strength of the meeting is reflected in the high profile international speakers who will be contributing to the programme this year. We invite you to join us for what promises to be an exciting and informative meeting.

The two-day conference presents current research from scientists and the latest bioinformatics tools using Next Generation Sequencing.  Topics include new applications, data management and evaluation, sequence assembly and transcriptome analysis. Rapidly changing sequencing technologies will be explored with a review of the latest technical advances.  Research and tools from all three major Next Generation Sequencing platforms (i.e. SOLiD, 454 and Solexa) is presented at this meeting.

The Draft Programme can be viewed here. The conference will start at 10.15am on Tuesday 23 August (with coffee served from 9.45am) and finish at 4pm on Wednesday 24 August.

There will be time over both days for general discussion, problem solving and interaction with representatives of New Zealand sequencing services, and with agents for all three platforms and their related technologies.

In 2011 we will be running two Workshops associated with the Conference. A half-day workshop for beginners to the field of Next Generation Sequencing will run on Monday 22 August 1pm to 5pm. A half-day workshop focussing on advanced techniques will run on Thursday 25 August 8.30am to 12.30pm. There is an option on the registration form to register only for a workshop/s should you not wish to attend the Conference.

The Palmerston North Convention Centre was New Zealand's first purpose built convention facility, opening in 1980. It was extensively redeveloped in 2001 and has an enviable reputation for professionalism and service excellence that sets it apart from the competition.

The Convention Centre is conveniently located in the heart of the city and offers the very best proximity to a large range of superb hotels and motels and is surrounded by vibrant bars, cafes, restaurants, cultural institutions and retail shops.

There are a limited number of free carparks associated with the Convention Centre and these will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis to registrants. If you need a space to park your car for the period of the conference please indicate this on your registration form. If you are allocated a car parking space you will be advised of this by 1 August 2011. There is a 'Pay and Display' area close to the Convention Centre should there be a greater demand for carparks than the number available.
