Registration includes attendance at the two-day Next Generation Sequencing Conference, morning and afternoon teas and lunches on both days, a conference dinner on Tuesday evening, and materials relevant to the meeting. The registration fee is NZ$400 + 15% GST for registrations from 1 July 2012. Currency convertor.

Attendance at either one or both of the Workshops will be optional with a charge of NZ$155 + 15% GST per workshop. If you are attending both the Conference and the Workshop running on Monday 20 August then your Workshop registration cost includes dinner at a chosen restaurant on the evening of Monday 20 August. If you are attending both the Conference and the Workshop running on Thursday 23 August then your Workshop registration cost includes dinner at a chosen restaurant on the evening of Wednesday 22 August.

Delegates at the 2011 Conference
in Palmerston North

The two-day conference presents current research from scientists and the latest bioinformatics tools using Next Generation Sequencing.  Topics will include new applications, data management and evaluation, sequence assembly and transcriptome analysis. Rapidly changing sequencing technologies will be explored with a review of the latest technical advances.  Research and tools from major Next Generation Sequencing platforms will be presented at this meeting.

This year there will be a session focussing on the bioinformatics component of Next Generation Sequencing. Short abstracts and contact details for those speaking in this session are listed here.

There will be time over both days for general discussion, problem solving and interaction with representatives of New Zealand sequencing services.


In 2012 we will be running two Workshops associated with the Conference. A half-day workshop for beginners to the field of Next Generation Sequencing will run on Monday 20 August 1pm to 5pm. A half-day workshop focusing on updating users in the latest in software and procedures will run on Thursday 23 August 8.30am to 12.30pm. There will be an option on the registration form to register only for a workshop/s should you not wish to attend the Conference.

The programme for the conference is in the throes of being prepared. Thank you to those who submitted an abstract for consideration. As speakers submit their profiles they will be listed on the Speakers Page. When abstracts are received they will be available on the Abstracts Page.


Poster Session

Winners of the poster competition
in 2011

A poster session is scheduled during the Conference. Poster authors who wish to participate in the poster competition have submitted a pdf of their poster to the Programme Committee where a preliminary judging process has identified the top 8 posters and these authors will speak for 5 minutes at the conference on their research. All posters will be on display at the conference and during a poster session authors will talk to conference registrants about their research.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the best posters as judged by the Programme Committee. The awards will be announced on the second day of the Conference.

Both the 2012 Conference and the Workshops will be held in the Dunedin Art Gallery, The Octagon, Duendin.

For those flying into Dunedin, the airport is about a 40 minute drive from the venue. Should you wish to use a shuttle service between the airport and the venue please contact SuperShuttle to make a booking.
