Next Generation Sequencing Conference

The third annual Next Generation Sequencing Conference is being organised.

This Conference will take place on Monday 23 and Tuesday 24 August 2010 in the Hutton Theatre at the Otago Museum, Dunedin. As more information becomes available it will be added to this page.


The 2010 meeting will be held in the Hutton Theatre on the ground floor of the Otago Museum, Dunedin.

This two-day conference will present current research from scientists and the latest bioinformatics tools using Next Generation Sequencing.  Topics will include new applications, data management and evaluation, sequence assembly and transcriptome analysis. Rapidly changing sequencing technologies will be explored with a review of the latest technical advances.  Research and tools from all three Next Generation Sequencing platforms (i.e. SOLiD, 454 and Solexa) will be presented at this meeting.

There will be time over both days for general discussion, problem solving and interaction with representatives of all sequencing services, and with agents for all three platforms and their related technologies.


Registration closed on Wednesday 4 August 2010.

Registration includes attendance at the two-day Next Generation Sequencing Conference, morning and afternoon teas and lunches on both days, dinner on Monday evening at a selected restaurant, and materials relevant to the meeting.

An optional element on the registration page is transport to and from Dunedin airport. Dunedin airport is approximately 35 kms from Dunedin city. If you would like to be met at the airport and taken directly to the meeting venue at a cost of $12 please indicate this on the registration form. The shuttle will leave the airport at 10am bound for the Otago Museum.

If you would like transport via a shuttle service from the meeting venue to the airport at the close of the meeting please indicate this on the registration form. Again the cost wil be $12. The shuttle will leave the Museum at 4.10pm.

Poster Session

A poster session is scheduled for Monday evening, 23 August. We invite you to submit a poster for this session. For those who would like to present a poster, on the registration form we ask for the draft title of your poster. You will be contacted by email on Monday 26 July and asked for your confirmed poster title, the authors of your poster and a short abstract (100 words) that will be included in the programme.

A cash prize will be awarded to the best three posters as judged by the Programme Committee. The awards will be announced on the second day of the Conference.
